Christmas 2010 was such a difficult time for many of our Extreme After-School families. With the economy hitting them so hard they just didn't know how they were going to have gifts for their children. Let us share one of the many precious stories with you.
Members of our Extreme Team went knocking on the door of one of our families and the momma answered with a surprise look on her face when she saw us at her door with beautifully wrapped gifts in our hand. Normally we call and let the family know that we are coming, but the phone was disconnected. When the mom saw the gifts, tears filled her eyes and she shared with our team that she was crying and agonizing that morning because she had to make the decision to either give her two children a Christmas or to pay her electric bill. As tears began to fill her eyes once again, she and her children embraced us with excitement declaring that they have truly received a miracle. Needless to say she was able to pay her bill and her children still had a Christmas!
Together we can continue to make the Holidays special for many of our children and thier families by collecting items for our "Basket of Love" campaign (complete Thanksgiving meals) and our "Star Kids" (sponsoring a child by purchasing a gift for Christmas). The following items were collected for our Thanksgiving Baskets. With the help of many companies, organizations, churches and individuals we blessed 106 families with complete Thanksgiving dinners!
